Zurai № One: Aquatica
Journey to the bottom of the ocean to save a sacred tree
Let customers speak for us
from 52 reviewsIf your nose has no patience for false notes or loud chords, and only truly hears a complex orchestra when it’s written by a talented composer — one who doesn’t blend the notes into a messy pile, doesn’t try to deafen the listener, but respects the purity of sound and the way the soloists take turns — then pause and listen: this is a quality “orchestral” performance. Perhaps this is simply a listener letting the composer hear his own music through someone else’s ears.
I’ll describe my personal impressions using my only “objective” measuring tool — my own nose.
Aquatica
This one keeps changing on me — sometimes it’s the icy depths of the ocean, sometimes lemony Sicily, sometimes the white and blue of the Cyclades. I don’t fully know where it’s taking me, but I like the ride. It gives me a feeling of pure oxygen and open space — never stagnant water. I think that’s my favorite game a scent can play with me — feeling both completely clear and completely impossible to pin down, all at once.

This smells like a tropical Christmas carnival on the beach — mocktails instead of mulled wine. One note in particular knows how to shout and how to whisper, and either way you hear it. The citrusy bitterness and tropical fruit are balanced by something clean underneath, so it never turns sugary or sticky. I didn’t expect myself to enjoy a tropical Christmas carnival this much.
Vanillawood
This one feels incredibly cozy, calm, and quietly comforting — like sitting beside a fireplace. Sawdust, kindling, warm resins, a little smoke, all wrapped in a cloud of vanilla — weightless, light, but always there, not sweet like dessert, more refined than that. Some notes step forward, some stay in the background the whole time, and some only flicker in for a moment. I love wood in perfume, and this is a clean, rich wood that knows how to lead.

Cherry — this is the smell of my childhood. This one takes me straight back to summer, to a cherry orchard, to a house filled with the scent of jam and cherry pies. It’s a very specific, very personal kind of nostalgia. The cherry here doesn’t overwhelm, doesn’t cling, the way it usually does. It fades into something almost overripe, and that fading is what I love most — it’s a shame it can’t last forever. The musk stays restrained, respectful even, never fighting the cherry for attention. A beautiful, harmonious interpretation of the cherry note. Thank you for that — you gave me my childhood back for a few hours.
In my ongoing search for complex orchestras, whether by chance or not, I wandered into this place — and I’m glad I decided to pause for a moment.
I truly enjoyed listening to these “orchestral works.” I’m looking forward to receiving the complete collection and finding out how long I’ll want to keep listening — whether they’ll turn out to be intrusive company, brief acquaintances, or companions I’ll want to keep around.
Each time I wear this, I smell something different. Could be a gently spiced cherry pipe tobacco. Another time an exotic market with cherry, apples and spices. Sometimes the florals leap to the front. But each time I like it a lot. Very well done.
Juicy fruity tropical fragrance. Sunny and uplifting. Instant love. I always spray on my shirt and it lasts for 2+ days. Excellent performance for an EDT.
I’m so glad I bought the samples, after watching Sam on the perfume sites. I’ve found myself a gem, it’s now one of my favourite scents. By virtue of sunbeams, and I would recommend this scent to anyone. At the very least, get the Zurai samples and see for yourselves.
I love this fragrance, by virtue of Sunbeams. It reminds me of a Tomavicci fragrance called Ange noir xxl. I hope at one point an EDP version for sale.
I like it. Grapefruitbomb!
Perfect for warmer months.
Got a sample. Strong scent with good protection. Perfect for colder months. Will wear in the future
I loved the incredible unique range of fragrances in the set. My personal favourite being Aquatica!
Got a sample last year and sat on it for awhile to make sure I loved it . Purchased a full bottle and couldn't be happier. This is blind buy safe , and is still creative and smells fantastic
This is a really nice perfume, there is a hint of vanilla amongst a warm woody and sweet spiced rum fragrance, it gives it all a nice balance. I like the story and art behind the fragrance.
I know it is a bit pricey but really worth it.
Aquatica: At first it smells like your regular blue/fresh fragrance. Don't be discouraged. Let that thing dry and discover a new scent.
Virtue of Sunbeams: I can't describe it, it just smells great.
Moonlight Harvest: Smells like cherry first and then it changes. IMO women may like this more.
Vanillawood: There's no vanilla in this thing. This is a heavy fragrance that will leave you smelling the booze of the gods

If you love cherry in perfumery, this is the perfume for you. In my opinion, it clears almost all of the cherry perfumes I’ve tried. To me, it ranks above the entirety of the Tom Ford Cherry collection, above Juliette, above Smoking Rouge, and above Black Opium.
The cherry accord is easily recognizable, even to those who aren’t into perfumes. One person I got to try it, without knowing anything about it, said it smelled like cherry sweets which makes sense as from the smell. this cherry accord is much more almondy than those of electric cherry and juliette probably most similar to lost cherry, which i would assume would be due to a higher concentration of benzaldyhyde in the formulation.
The cherry and wheat combination is beautiful and unique however seems to be more polarising than other seemingly safer combinations such as the classic cherry and tobacco. My advice would be to wait until the perfume has dried down before making up your mind about it. Two of the four other people I had test it didn’t like it at first but ended up liking it a lot after it had dried down. One of them even enquired about buying the fragrance for himself.
If you’re looking for a cherry perfume, this is it.
These are reasonably priced, thoughtfully and skilfully blended. Very nice.
